Those who need a bit less speed can choose from packages starting at 2 Mbps. The most comprehensive package offers download speeds up to 1 Gbps, which is plenty of bandwidth for intense gaming, simultaneous heavy usage by multiple people, and HD video streaming. Independent speed tests indicate that Cincinnati Bell is the fastest Internet service in the Cincinnati area. If your number one priority with Internet service is speed, you should definitely look into the packages at Cincinnati Bell. From there, you can add options like the kids and family package, the pro sports package, and the lifestyle package. Everyone begins with the starter pack, which includes public access channels and local channels. These packages allow you to add and remove channel packs as you need them, rather than locking you into channel purchases for months or years at a time. One of the big draws of Cincinnati Bell is FIOPTICS MyTV. Service bundles for residential customers are designed to be as cost-efficient and versatile as possible. This company is growing throughout the region, and expanding its services into Kentucky. If you live in the Dayton or Cincinnati area, Cincinnati Bell may be one of the companies you learn more about. To get fiber service at your home, your fiber internet company must install specific fiber internet boxes off of which you can connect your fiber modem and router.Īs an Ohio Internet service customer, you have lots of options to consider. It is a Fiber provider, which means they deliver service faster than most other types of service by using an optical fiber rather than a copper wire. You can also find altafiber in Kentucky, and many others. I would love to stick with Cincinnati Bell but at this point it looks like my only option is to subscribe to Spectrum if I want a consistent connection.Your best chance of finding altafiber service is in Ohio, their largest coverage area. I'm currently waiting to hear back from the engineering team to see if they have any updates. I've sent over a bunch of troubleshooting data including traceroutes to various locations which clearly highlights the issue and compares it with the ping times during other parts of the day where there are no problems. I resubscribed to Spectrum just to make a stronger case, and during the high ping times in the evening on my Fioptics connection, I can simply swap to Spectrum and all issues are gone. I've seen a number of threads dating back to 2010 where people are having similar issues, including some here in this sub, even one where the CTO of the company noted that some of this kind of stuff can be out of their hands in an AMA. Has anyone else had these issues and found a way to resolve them? I've had a tech out to my home and he did not see any problems with my hardware or the lines leading to my house, which supported my existing findings. What I'm seeing is much higher ping times and slower download speeds consistently around 8-11PM ET. It appears that this is related to peering problems once the connection gets outside the CinciBell servers downtown. My connection is FTTH and after a significant amount of troubleshooting I've ruled out any of my hardware being an issue. A few months back Fioptics became available in my area so I decided to switch to a Cincinnati Bell plan from Spectrum due to the cost savings and increased speeds.
